PRE-SIM FLIGHT TRAINING DEVICES (FTD) Avsoft's Pre-Sim FTD is a computerized system consisting of several touch panel LCD screens mounted on a steel frame which simulates the flight deck environment. Using the latest in computer simulation, Avsoft's pre-sim FTD enables pilots to work with various aircraft systems prior to the start of the simulator phase of their training. Using the FTD, students can operate all system controls and view the feedback on the various indicators and displays. Avsoft's FTD provides real-time interaction with every aircraft system either in a structured training environment or in a completely free-play mode. Crews can work together to:

• Practice pre-flight Flows and procedures
• Perform system tests
• Engine start procedures
• Practice appropriate procedures for aircraft system malfunctions using the FAA approved Cockpit Operating Manual (COM)
• Practice normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures using the COM
• Practice CRM skills

Using the optional Instructor Operating Station (IOS), various system malfunctions can be introduced to mimic system failures. Crews then use the COM to solve the problem as they would in the simulator or real aircraft. Avsoft designed the FTD to provide familiarization, procedures and systems training in all aircraft types prior to entering a full flight simulator. This Flight Training Device enables training managers to reduce the fixed base simulator footprint, thereby lowering training costs. Avsoft's FTD is designed so as to allow the deployment of multiple aircraft types on the same unit which results in a saving of money and space. Aircraft configurations can be modified to mimic a particular aircraft of an airline.
