Avsoft's courseware delivery interface was designed for maximum flexibility so as to meet any training center or individual requirements. During the design process, we looked at numerous CBT producers to make sure that we've incorporated as many useful functions as possible. You can also compare our CBT features against the competition.
The interface incorporates the following features
Function |
Description |
SCORM Conformance (Web based Training) |
The courseware will automatically detect the SCORM environment and adjust its behavior accordingly. |
Delivery Mode |
The training center can control the delivery mode. The delivery mode enables students to select their favorite delivery method: Either the 'page turning' mode (student clicks next button to advance) or the 'movie' mode (courseware advances automatically until stopped). A training center can force the delivery mode, or allow the student to choose. |
Audio Selection |
Students can control the audio (on or off, audio volume) |
Narration Selection |
Students can read the narration, just listen to the audio, or do both |
Navigation mode |
A training center can control how the student can use the courseware. Options are: view course in sequence, force listen to audio, force review upon test failure. |
Switch Glossary |
The Switch Glossary is an optional feature. The Switch Glossary consists of a cockpit layout. By dragging the mouse over the cockpit graphic, students can zoom in on any panel. From there, the student can review the purpose, function, or meaning of a particular control or indicator. |
Text Glossary |
The text glossary is an optional feature. The text glossary enables a student to review the meaning of an acronym, EICAS message, or indicator light. |
Search Function |
The search function is an optional feature. Students can search the entire course (not just the module) for narration that contains a certain term. The interface will then deliver a mini-cbt consisting of all sections of the CBT where the search term(s) are mentioned in the narration. |
Free Play Interactive Systems |
The Free Play Interactive systems enables students to pull up any combination of control panels and system diagrams and use the controls to see the effect on the system diagrams. The Free Play Interactive systems is a subset of our aircraft systems simulation engine. |
FAQ Tabs |
Training centers can seed the CBT with Frequently Asked Question that are then made available to students while they're viewing a module. Training Centers can manage their own FAQs. Avsoft provides a software tool so that training centers can manage these FAQs. |
Tips Tabs |
Training centers can seed the CBT with Tips that are then made available to students while they're viewing a module. Training Centers can manage their own Tips. Avsoft provides a software tool so that training centers can manage these Tips. Tips are used to convey additional information (such as East is Least, West is Best for example). |
Important Point Tabs |
Training centers can seed the CBT with Important Points (ie, foot stompers) that are then made available to students while they're viewing a module. Training Centers can manage their own Important Points. Avsoft provides a software tool so that training centers can manage these Important Points. Important Points are used to emphasize information (for example, to indicate that information on a particular screen will be in the end of module test or in the final exam). |
Manage courseware text |
As part of the sale of a site license or the lease of a courseware, Avsoft supplies a web based software tool so that training centers can insert text directly onto the screen of a particular section of a course module. For example, a training center may wish to emphasize a point by inserting a text box that will be displayed to the students while they're studying. In effect, this tool enables a training center to modify the CBT content itself. |
Manage pop quizzes |
As part of the sale of a site license or the lease of a courseware, Avsoft supplies a web based software tool so that training centers can insert pop quizzes directly onto the screen of a particular section of a course module. For example, a training center may wish to emphasize a point by inserting a pop quiz that will be displayed to the students while they're studying. In effect, this tool enables a training center to modify the CBT content itself. |
Email Communication |
Students can email either Avsoft tech support or an instructor directly from within a module. For example, the student could use this function to email a question to an instructor while he/she is studying a particular module. There is an optional feature that will email a module completion report to designated email address. |
Skype Communication |
Students and instructors can communicate through Skype (audio and/or video). This features enables training organizations to conduct dissociated classes where the instructor and students are not in the same physical location. Students can only communicate with a designated Skype address. |
Post Comment to LMS |
Students can post comments to the LMS for review by the LMS manager. |
Report Discrepancy |
In case a discrepancy or error is discovered on a particular section of a course module, students (or instructors) can report the discrepancy. This report is then sent to all Avsoft courseware development team members for correction and update. If the courseware is hosted on an Avsoft server, the corrections will be available as soon as they are made. |
Note Taking |
Students can make notes on each individual page of a course module. These notes can then be reviewed the next time they enter a module, or the student can print all the notes. If the course is viewed through an LMS, the notes will be specific to a particular student. |
Bulletin Board Integration |
A training organization can set up a bulletin board (forum) which can be launched directly from within a module. The bulletin board is a great tool to get students to interact with each other and an instructor. |
Chat Function |
Students can chat directly with an instructor using Skype's Instant Messaging feature. Instant Messaging can only be done with a designated instructor IM address. |
Liquid GUI |
The Liquid Graphical user Interface (GUI) ensures that the courseware can be delivered on any size screen or monitor (maximum size: 2400 x 1500). Resizing of the browser window will resize all the components on the screen to maintain the same look and feel. |
Software Update Notification |
The interface version number on the interface indicates to a training center that has purchased a site license, or is using a cross-domain deployment that a software package update is available for download. |
Questions database management |
As part of the sale of a site license or the lease of a courseware, Avsoft supplies a web based software tool so that training centers can manage and maintain their own database of questions. Training centers can then add as many questions as they wish and categorize them by cycle or by date. |
CBT Settings Management |
As part of the sale of a site license or the lease of a courseware, Avsoft supplies a web based software tool so that training centers can manage and control the functionality of the course interface. For example, a training center could enable or disable the search function of the interface. |
