LMS

Avsoft's Learning Management System (LMS) is an advanced web enabled application that delivers eLearning courses and tracks the results of the users.

Avsoft's LMS uses the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) for communication between the course and the LMS.  SCORM is a collection of standards and specifications for web-based eLearning. It defines communication between client side content and a host system (called "the run-time environment"), which is commonly supported by a LMS. SCORM also defines how content may be packaged into a transferable ZIP file called "Package Interchange Format."

SCORM is a specification of the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative from the Office of the United States Secretary of Defense.

Avsoft's LMS is specifically designed to deliver training for initial qualification training, as well as annual reccurent training.

Avsoft's LMS provides the following functionalities:

  • Deliver training based on:
    • Qualification - The LMS delivers training only if an individual is qualified
    • Lack of qualification -  The LMS delivers training only if an individual is NOT qualified (e.g., initial training)
    • Annual Recurrent Training - The LMS delivers training when the date is between an individual's specifc start date and end date
      • When recurrent training is completed, the LMS automatically resets the start date and end date to the next cycle.  For example, training can be set to be delivered on even years only, so when the user completes the specified training, the LMS will automatically reset the end date to the same day and month of the next even year.
    • Group Training - The LMS delivers training to all users when the date is between a specified start date and end date.  The scenario would be a one time training that needs to be accomplished by everyone.
    • Individual Training - The LMS delivers training to specified users when the date is between a specified start date and end date.  The scenario would be remedial training for one or more specific individual user.
    • Always available - any user can take the training if desired
    • Not available - the training is only available to instructors and managers.  The scenario would be when training material is being prepared prior to delivery
    • Inactive user:  The LMS can deny course access to individuals that are considered to be inactive (e.g., long term leave)

  • Automated Notification. The LMS notification system provides automated notifications relating to the availability or completion of scheduled training.  Notices are sent via email and/or through the LMS messaging system:
    • Training due reminder notifications - notifies user and/or supervisor that training is available
    • Training not completed within a specified number of days prior to due date.  This type of report can be sent at the following points:
      • 10, 20, 30, 60, or 90 days prior to the due date
      • The start of the month the training is due in
    • Training completion - notifies user and/or supervisor that training is completed.  The notification includes a summary of the user's activities.
    • Training passed - Sent when a user passes all the specified training.  The report includes a summary of the results.
    • Training failed - Sent when a user fails all the specified training.  The report includes a summary of the results.
    • Training passed or failed - Sent when a user completes all the specified training, irrespective of whether they were passed or failed.  The report includes a summary of the results.
    • Failure to complete training notification - notifies users and/or supervisors that a user has not completed the scheduled training by the specified due date.

  • Course Completion reports:  A report can be automatically sent when a user completes (passes/fails) all the modules in a course.
    • Reports can be sent to user and/or supervisor/instructor via email or LMS messaging system

  • Module Completion Reports:  A report can be automatically sent when a user completes (passes/fails) a course module.
    • Reports can be sent to user and/or supervisor/instructor via email or LMS messaging system

  • Training managers can fully customize the notifications and reports, including:
    • The report/notification delivery method:  either via email or LMS messaging system
    • The title of the report/notice
    • A message that is inserted before the report
    • Whether the student should receive a copy of the report
    • One or more additional recipients of the message.  For example, you can specify that a failure to complete training by the due date report should be sent to the student's supervisor, as well as the HR department.
